Roof FAQ

Answered By Our Roofing Experts

Do I Need a New Roof?
Shingle manufacturers generally offer warranties for twenty to thirty years, and insurance companies figure depreciation based on a 5% per year loss in value. Therefore, if your composition shingle roof hasn’t been replaced for over 20 years, your home may be due for a new roof. In Arkansas, we often see roofs replaced more frequently due to wind, hail and other weather-related damage.
Roof Maintenance?
You can save a lot of money and hassle by ensuring your roof receives routine maintenance. We recommend yearly inspections to ensure longevity to your roof by heading off smaller problems before they become major issues.

What Does Hail Damage Look Like?

It can be difficult for the untrained eye to see minor to moderate hail damage on an asphalt shingle. The physical symptoms are loss of granules from the fiberglass/asphalt base, with small to large pits in the surface of the shingle.

Usually there are still some granules remaining in the damaged areas, which makes them hard to distinguish from undamaged areas. It’s easier to see hail damage where it has dented aluminum flashing, pipe jack flashing, vent caps and air conditioner cooling fins.

More severe hail can even dent steel gutters and downspouts.
